The Gäuboden Museum: Bavaria’s Most Precious Treasures all under One Roof
Precious treasures all under one roof
The precious treasures of the past are preserved in the Gäuboden Museum: Bavarian roots lie among the Celtic coins and a world-famous Roman treasure collection. Bajuwaric jewelry, belt fittings, and valuable burial objects bear testimony to Straubing once being home to the very first and very influential Bavarians.
Discover 7,000 years of history all in one day
The origins of the Gäuboden Museum trace back to the year 1845 – ever since its collection has grown significantly. The museum offers an almost complete picture of 7,000 years of settling history in the Gäuboden region – going all the way back to Neolithic discoveries. In the Roman park of the museum, one of the greatest and most significant Roman exhibitions in all of Bavaria, visitors can stroll in the footsteps of ancient Romans. Then last but not least, they can marvel at the Roman treasure of Straubing: the largest discovery of Roman parade armor up to this day.
